{"id":835,"date":"2011-03-28T11:31:27","date_gmt":"2011-03-28T11:31:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oerblog.conted.ox.ac.uk\/?p=60"},"modified":"2011-03-28T14:19:40","modified_gmt":"2011-03-28T14:19:40","slug":"oer-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tallblog.conted.ox.ac.uk\/index.php\/2011\/03\/28\/oer-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"OER Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tallblog.conted.ox.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/reuse2.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-840 alignnone\" title=\"reuse\" src=\"http:\/\/tallblog.conted.ox.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/reuse2-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"reuse\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Last week we ran our first workshop exploring OER use with 9 academics  across a variety of institutions.\u00a0 They were chosen to be practitioners  with\u00a0 little previous exposure to OER \u2013 reflecting the starting position  for the majority of HE.\u00a0 This was a very hands on session where we asked participants to look for OER with a particular teaching session in mind (although without precluding the discovery of things they might want to use elsewhere), hoping to understand processes at least somewhat close to actual practice.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It is obviously too soon to draw any firm conclusions at this point, but a few themes that emerged were:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Everyone reuses all the time, but not necessarily OER.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>All aware of issues around copyright \u2013 but not always how best to manage them.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>There is simultaneous more and less out there than you might expect \u2013 VERY dependant on what you are looking for.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Similarly contradictory evidence around where best to search, for somethings Google is best, others found specialist sources a revelation \u201cwhy didn\u2019t I know about <a title=\"jorum\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jorum.ac.uk\/\">JORUM <\/a>before?\u201d<\/li>\r\n\t<li>The form of OER is vital to how it is reused,\u00a0 wholesale reuse most likely with video and multimedia you cannot make yourself, textual resources are often used more for inspiration than anything else.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nSo at the moment just impressions from the day.\u00a0 We are running our second workshop on the 4th which should provide more data to explore.\r\n\r\nImage: <span><span>Reuse<\/span> \/ <a rel=\"cc:attributionURL\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mariogiambattista\/3858187930\/in\/photostream\/\"><\/a> \/ <a rel=\"xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license xh:license license\" href=\"http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc-sa\/2.0\/\">CC BY-NC-SA 2.0<\/a><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week we ran our first workshop exploring OER use with 9 academics across a variety of institutions.\u00a0 They were chosen to be practitioners with\u00a0 little previous exposure to OER &#8211;
